Criteria for the EU Ecolabel - Water

11-   Water flow from faucets and showerheads The faucets and showerheads'   average flow must not exceed 9 liters per minute, except for the bathroom and   kitchen's faucets. 
   
52-  Water flow from faucets and showerheads   (1,5 point) The faucets and showerheads'   average flow must not exceed 8 liters per minute, except for the bathroom's   faucets. 
   
56-   Temperature and tap water flow (1 point)  At least 95% of tap shall allow   a precise and fast regulation of the temperature and the water low. 
   
57-  Time switch's shower (1,5 point)  Outdoor showers for common use   and for staff are equipped  with a   timer or a presence detection.
   
13- Flush urinals  Urinals must be equipped by   automatic or manual flush for avoiding water.
   
53- Flusch  At least 95% of toilets must not consume  6 liters per flush.
   
61- Saving  water in urinals (1,5 point) System without water or   controlled flush manually or automatically    to flush urinals after use only.
   
14- Bed linen and towels'   change This criterion applies to   establishements providing towels or bed linen. It is required to informe   guests about the change of towels and bed linen on request or, by default,   the frequency established by the environmental policy of the establishements  or required by law or national   regulations. 
   
15- Correct sewage disposal Informing guests and staff about   the use of the draining points for the waste water in order to avoid the   discharge of substances that would prevent the waste water treatment   according to the municipal managing plan and/or the community rules.
24 -  Environmental policy and plan of   action  The management has to write a   policy of environmental protection, easily accessible to the public and   develop a plan of action establishing environmental objectives, including   waster. These goals are updated every two years. A person in charge of the   organization of these objectives is appointed. The public gives its opinion   through a questionnaire.
   
25 - Staff training on   water  Provide staff with information   and training on the implementation of environmental policies and educate   staff on responsible environmental behaviour.
  On water :
  Form the staff to check for  the staff to check for leaks and take   appropriate mesures, to irrigate landscapes and plants according to regional   and climatic conditions as well as mode change of towels according to the   environmental policy.
   
26- Guest's information Communication on the   environnemental politicy in favor of clients, especially about safety and   fire prévention.
  The information includes the   actions implemented by the hotel and presentation of the ecolabel.
  The informations are delivred to   the reception with a questionnaire and must be clearly displayed. 
  In the bathrooms : advice notice board to contribute to save   water.
  In  the toilets : guests are encouraged to use   bins for their waste instead of the toilet bowl.
  Guests are invited to inform the staff in case of   leakage. 
   
27 -   Collection of data on the water consumption The establishment must lay down   procedures for the collection (at least once a year) and monitoring of data   on water consumption. The consumption is expressed in liters by night and in   square meter (interior surface area). 
   
89- Supplementary water meter   (1 point) Supplementary water meter must   be installed to know the water consumption in the rooms and services and   machines.
   
29 -   Information appearing on the Ecolabel The eco-label must contain the energy saving mention. 
   
50- Use   of rain water and recycled water (4 points) The rain water should be   collected, but should not be used as drinking water or sanitary water (2   points).

51-   Automatic watering systems for outdoor (1,5 point) Use of an automatic watering   systems for plants and outdoor spaces. 
   
54-   Water consumption for dishwashers (1 point) This criterion applies only to   domestic dishwashers.
  If this dishwashers doesn't have   a community ecolabel, the water consumption must not exceed a certain   threshold.
   
55- Water consumption   dishwasher (1 point)  This criterion applies only to domestic dishasher. 
   
58- Pool cover (1 point)  To reduce evaporation, pools   should be covered at night or when not in use fore more than one day. 
   
60-Information on water   hardness (2 points)  In order to reduce the use of   detergents, a display on the hardness of the water is placed near the   location of washing machines and dishwashers or a system of automatic dosing   in set up.
